Web Design: You get what you pay for

In this tough economical climate it can be hard to win new business with people holding onto their purse strings.

Especially with digital services, clients don’t always know the difference between well considered bespoke websites and being ripped off.

If the only way you can differentiate your business is on price, you’re doomed. Unless of course you are Amazon… or have the cheapest (probably outsourced) solution.

Blimey! WordPress is free…

Isn’t it amazing?! WordPress is free! That means you can build a website, essentially for free. It even says set up only takes 5 minutes. Great! Good WordPress templates are cheap too.

Yet the real value of a website is in it’s conversions. Where some knowledge and understanding revolutionises html code, word and pictures into serious business.

Sure it’s a little more complicated than that and that’s why you need web designers and digital marketers right?

Would you hire a lawyer based on how cheap they were?

Would you hire any vital service to your business based purely on price? I’ve been looking to hire a new accountant this week (and actually we found the right match today). I can safely say the cheapest options out there certainly are not the best.

If company X are £500 cheaper. Find out why.

Compete on how much you value you offer your clients.

I urge you to compete on how much you care about your clients businesses. Compete on knowing your niche better than anyone else.

And bear this in mind when choosing your suppliers too.

For goodness sake, stop competing on price.

p.s. Think about it this way, if I charge you less for my time it means I have to spend more time finding new business.

To be frankly honest, I would much rather spend more time helping you make your business more successful.
